Presentations

Various breakout sessions at AAPC national and local annual conferences and chapter meetings (topics by request):

  • Compliant Provider Queries
This session will cover how we identify errors and omissions, why we query, when to query and the benefits of early query. We will demonstrate some of the more common documentation and coding issues for which we query from the perspective of risk adjustment. We will talk through the barriers and best practices of the query process. Participants in this session will be encouraged, empowered and equipped to conduct compliant queries.
  • Painting by Numbers, How to Create a Masterpiece
This presentation discusses the importance of correct coding overall (risk, acuity, SDoH, quality, exclusions, member experience, etc.) and the synergy between the various code sets in satisfying payer reporting requirements.
  • Documenting and Coding to Satisfy Reporting Requirements
Every payer is looking for the same information from providers. As providers focus on providing high quality, cost effective patient care, they often do not document and code in a way that portrays that care or in a way that satisfies what the payer requires. In our time together, we will take a look at the 3 key metrics that drive healthcare, what the payer wants and how the provider can document and code in a way that satisfies those requirements. We will look at documenting and coding for the most prevalent chronic conditions in the geriatric population – examining the guidelines from a risk adjustment and a quality reporting perspective. Lastly, we will discuss the vital role that coders play in ensuring correct coding – coding that is both accurate and complete – and coding that satisfies reporting requirements.
  • AAPC Teach the Teacher: Transition to a Virtual Classroom
Many of us found ourselves driven from the classroom setting by COVID-19 and had to adapt quickly to a virtual environment. This session will detail that transition, some lessons learned along the way, and will demonstrate how that challenge became an opportunity for a different style of teaching and deeper engagement in the classroom.
