It’s Spring!! A time of warming weather and new beginnings. There are signs of Spring everywhere. We are starting to see green again. As I think of new beginnings in healthcare, I think about ICD-10 and whether or not it will really happen this year. We shall know soon, hopefully this next week.
As we prepare our gardens for new growth, in the same way we have been making preparations for this transition to a new code set. We have been analyzing and training for clinical documentation improvement and more accurate and complete coding. Some of us have been preparing by doing dual coding. And barring an act of Congress, ICD-10 will come.
So we wait with anticipation. Just as we wait for Spring to blossom, we wait to see if we will enter this new and more colorful world of ICD-10. What news will this Spring bring? Are you ready?
